Job Description
Librarians are responsible for managing and organizing library resources to provide access to information and promote literacy. They assist users in finding books, journals, and other materials, provide research assistance, oversee library operations, and develop programs and services to meet the needs of the community.
Responsibilities
- Assisting library users in locating and accessing materials.
- Managing the library's collection, including cataloging and classifying items.
- Developing and implementing library programs and services.
- Providing research assistance and instruction to library users.
- Promoting literacy and organizing reading programs.
- Ordering new materials and maintaining inventory records.
- Collaborating with other librarians and professionals to improve services.
- Managing library budgets and resources.
- Maintaining library equipment and systems.
- Staying updated with new technologies and trends in library science.
Requirements
- Master's degree in library science or information science.
- Knowledge of library systems, cataloging, and classification methods.
- Strong organization and time management skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
- Proficiency in using library databases and software.
