Consultants undertake assignments typically lasting six months or longer, working either within A&O Shearmans practice groups or on secondment directly with clients.
Assignments based in Abu Dhabi or Dubai are typically six months in duration and carried out on a full-time basis. Opportunities offering flexible working arrangements may also be available from time to time.

We are currently recruiting for in-house corporate commercial lawyers in the UAE on a contract basis. The roles span multinational conglomerates, sovereign wealth funds, leading financial services group, and various other types of leading organisations. Lawyers with strong transactional and commercial contracts experience, ideally with prior exposure to the region with 5 years + PQE.

6mth Contract – Corporate Commercial Lawyer (Multinational Conglomerate – UAE)
A prominent multinational conglomerate headquartered in the UAE is seeking a qualified lawyer with broad corporate commercial experience to support its in-house legal team across a diverse portfolio of business lines, including real estate, logistics, retail, and hospitality. The successful candidate will advise on a wide range of commercial contracts, including supply and distribution agreements, joint venture arrangements, franchise and licensing agreements, and corporate governance matters. The role requires close collaboration with business units across the group and will involve supporting strategic transactions and day-to-day commercial operations throughout the region. Candidates should have a minimum of 5–10 years post-qualification experience and a strong track record of advising on complex commercial agreements in a multi-jurisdictional environment, ideally with prior exposure to the UAE or wider Middle East market.
3mth Contract – M&A and Corporate Finance Lawyer (Sovereign Wealth Fund – UAE)
A major sovereign wealth fund based in Abu Dhabi is seeking a lawyer with significant experience in mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, and investment transactions to join its in-house legal function on a contract basis. The successful candidate will advise on domestic and cross-border acquisitions, disposals, joint ventures, minority investments, and associated corporate restructurings across a range of sectors, including technology, infrastructure, healthcare, and financial services. The role will involve working alongside senior investment professionals and external counsel on high-value, complex transactions. Candidates should have a minimum of 5–10 years post-qualification experience, with a strong grounding in M&A documentation, due diligence processes, and shareholders agreement negotiations, preferably gained at a leading international law firm or comparable in-house environment.
6mth Contract – Commercial Contracts and Procurement Lawyer (Financial Services Group – UAE)
A leading banking and financial services group with its regional headquarters in the UAE is seeking a corporate commercial lawyer to sit within its in-house legal and compliance function and advise on a high volume of commercial contracts and procurement matters. The role will involve drafting, reviewing, and negotiating technology and outsourcing agreements, professional services contracts, data processing arrangements, and strategic vendor partnerships, as well as advising on regulatory and operational risk issues arising from third-party engagements. The successful candidate will work closely with procurement, IT, and business transformation teams across the group. Candidates should have a minimum of 4–8 years post-qualification experience, with demonstrable expertise in commercial contracts work, ideally gained within or advising the banking, insurance, or broader financial services sector. Familiarity with DIFC or ADGM regulatory frameworks would be advantageous.
