A Leasing Compliance Officer is an integral part of the property management and leasing teams, responsible for ensuring that the leasing processes comply with legal standards and internal policies. The role demands an individual who is keen on detail, understands the complexities of leasing regulations, and is able to ensure all contracts and agreements adhere strictly to these standards. This individual will act as an important liaison between legal counsel, property managers, and tenants, making certain that all parties understand and follow the agreed-upon terms of leasing agreements. Additionally, a Leasing Compliance Officer will oversee the audits of leasing documents, proactively identify potential compliance risks, and coordinate training sessions for staff on compliance matters. Overall, this position is essential for maintaining the integrity of leasing operations and ensuring that organizational procedures consistently meet regulatory requirements.


Responsibilities

  • Review lease agreements to ensure compliance with company policies and legal standards.
  • Monitor changes in legislation and update leasing processes accordingly.
  • Coordinate with legal counsel regarding the interpretation of leasing laws.
  • Conduct regular audits to verify compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Develop strategies to minimize compliance-related risks for the organization.
  • Communicate compliance procedures and standards to leasing staff effectively.
  • Resolve any lease-related issues that could lead to non-compliance promptly.
  • Assist in preparing reports on compliance status and potential risks.
  • Offer guidance to property management teams on compliance best practices.
  • Organize training workshops addressing updated leasing compliance regulations.
  • Maintain detailed records of compliance audits and corrective actions taken.
  • Ensure all lease amendments are executed in compliance with legal requirements.


Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Law, Business Administration, or a similar field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in leasing or property management compliance.
  • Strong understanding of local, state, and federal leasing laws and regulations.
  • Proficiency in using compliance management software and office applications.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex compliance issues.
  • Detail-oriented mindset to ensure strict adherence to compliance measures.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and resolve compliance-related disputes effectively.
