About The Role

We are seeking an innovative Lead Mechatronics Engineer to spearhead the design, development, and deployment of advanced electromechanical systems for large-scale live events, immersive experiences, and interactive installations. This role bridges mechanical, electrical, and software engineering to create motion-based, sensor-driven, and automated technologies that bring creative visions to life.

The successful candidate will lead multidisciplinary teams to deliver reliable, safe, and spectacular event technologies that redefine audience engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Leadership:

Lead the concept development, design, and implementation of mechatronic systems used in live shows, exhibitions, and touring productions.

  • System Integration:

Oversee integration of mechanical structures, robotics, sensors, actuators, pneumatics, and control systems with software and audiovisual components.

  • Project Delivery:

Manage project lifecycles from prototype to field deployment, ensuring on-time delivery, quality control, and adherence to safety standards.

  • Innovation & R&D:

Explore and prototype new technologies such as real-time motion control, automation systems, IoT-enabled devices, and kinetic installations.

  • Team Management:

Mentor and guide junior engineers and technicians, fostering collaboration between creative, production, and technical teams.

  • Vendor & Partner Collaboration:

Coordinate with fabrication partners, control system suppliers, and creative agencies to realize technically ambitious concepts.

  • Safety & Compliance:

Ensure compliance with relevant engineering standards, electrical codes, and live event safety regulations (CE, UL, ISO, OSHA, etc.).

Required Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in mechatronics, robotics, or automation, ideally within events, entertainment, theme parks, or experiential technology.

Proven Expertise In

  • Motion control and servo systems
  • CAD and mechanical design (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, etc.)
  • PLC or embedded control systems (Beckhoff, Arduino, Siemens, etc.)
  • Electrical and pneumatic system design
  • Integration with lighting, sound, or video control systems (DMX, Art-Net, etc.)
  • Strong project management and leadership abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills and cross-disciplinary collaboration experience.
  • Willingness to travel for installations, testing, and on-site event support.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with robotics for live events or scenic automation.
  • Familiarity with interactive technologies (motion tracking, sensors, real-time data processing).
  • Knowledge of Python, C/C++, or LabVIEW for system control and data analysis.
  • Experience working with creative technology teams or studios.
  • Background in structural analysis and dynamic load simulation.
