Job Purpose

First-of-its-kind training facility in Dubai, the Emirates Flight Training Academy (EFTA) is located in Dubai South, Dubai World Central (DWC). With its unique facilities and resources, the Emirates Flight Training Academy offers the opportunity to learn to fly in the most advanced flight training academy in the world.

Our fully operational flight operations centre is dedicated to Emirates Flight Training Academy cadets only, making flight training part of everyday life at the Academy. This means you will have the opportunity to gain a complete operational experience in one holistic environment.

As L&D Specialist in the Emirates Flight Training Academy, you are responsible for the implementation of learning and development solutions for functional areas to support business goals and for ensuring that all learning solutions are delivered as per the programme design and to the predefined standards. You will also ensure that any changes required are documented and discussed with the line manager and incorporated. Specific to Emirates Flight Training Academy (EFTA): Implementation of learning and development solutions for English Language Training within the Aviation Sciences course for cadets at EFTA to support business goals.

In This Role, You Will Be Responsible For

  • Providing Aviation English training to ab-initio cadets.
  • Developing and administering context sensitive testing content, metrics, and methodologies.
  • Conducting regular assessments of the cadets to ensure that they meet the course standards.
  • Monitoring cadet’s proficiency and progress on a regular basis and generate accurate reports of their performance.
  • Conducting English Language Proficiency (ELP) assessments for pilots and other aviation personnel in strict adherence to ICAO, GCAA, and Eurocontrol guidelines.
  • Conducting training sessions for ab-initio cadets and other EFTA Staff as the business requires and as directed by line manager.
  • Researching, developing, and recommending new training materials.
  • Researching, developing, and recommending new training methods to further improve the standard of learning and performance across the business.

Qualification

To be considered for this role, you must meet the below requirements:

  • Degree or Honours (12+3 or equivalent) in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (Adult Learners)
  • Instructional experience in English for Specific Purposes (ESP) (5+ years).
  • Instructional experience in other areas of learning and development (5+ years).
  • Proven ability to apply a wide variety of instructional techniques and a broad range of current teaching methodologies at an excellent level,, including blended learning.
  • Experience in conducting language assessments (preferably in the field of aviation).

Specialisation in: English Language Teaching, Education/Training, Aviation and Leadership.

Experience in area of specialisation.

Knowledge/skills

  • Thorough command of the English language
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a cultural sensitivity to the local community, together with the ability to influence diverse groups of people through excellent communication and presentation techniques.
  • Experience of working in an environment aligned to international audit and regulatory requirements relevant to the area of specialisation.
  • Ability to gather and analyse data, draw meaningful conclusions and write comprehensive reports on business situations and the performance of individuals.
  • Demonstrate good project management knowledge use of project management and MS Office products.
  • Demonstrated tolerance for a dynamic business environment, where priorities may change due to new initiatives and where a flexible, adaptable and responsive approach is critical to success.
  • Thorough practical working knowledge of learning and development processes and methodologies and ability to design and develop innovative and effective learning solutions.
