Laboratory Technician (225-820)

A Laboratory Technician plays a crucial role in supporting scientific investigations by performing a variety of laboratory tests and experiments. This role involves conducting routine and specialized tasks which are essential for the progression of research and development across various scientific fields, including but not limited to, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, environmental science, and biotechnology. Working under the supervision of scientists or laboratory managers, Laboratory Technicians are responsible for ensuring accurate and precise measurements in experiments, maintaining laboratory equipment, and contributing to the development of new processes and procedures. They adhere to strict safety and quality standards to ensure reliable and valid test results. This position requires a keen eye for detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine and non-routine laboratory tests and procedures with accuracy and precision.
• Prepare and analyze samples following standardized scientific and laboratory procedures.
• Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment and instruments as needed.
• Document and report test results, ensuring compliance with lab protocols and regulations.
• Assist in the development and validation of new laboratory testing methodologies.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment in compliance with safety protocols.
• Participate in laboratory quality control and assurance programs to ensure data integrity.
• Order and restock consumables and reagents, ensuring adequate supplies for laboratory operations.
• Collaborate with scientists and other laboratory personnel on research and development projects.
• Adhere to ethical standards and confidentiality protocols to protect data and privacy.
• Review and update laboratory standard operating procedures regularly for accuracy.
• Engage in continuous professional development and training to enhance laboratory skills and knowledge.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry, or related scientific field preferred.
• Proven experience as a laboratory technician or in a similar laboratory role.
• Proficient in using laboratory equipment, instruments, and software tools effectively.
• Strong knowledge of laboratory safety protocols and regulatory requirements.
• Excellent attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate records and reports.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively in a team.
