About Jumeirah Zabeel Saray

About The Job

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Junior Sous Chef - Pastry to join Jumeirah Zabeel Saray.

  • Support the pastry chef in preparing ingredients, assembling components, and baking pastries, desserts, and baked goods according to recipes and standards.
  • Participate in decorating, glazing, frosting, and garnishing pastries to enhance visual appeal and presentation.
  • Assist in monitoring ingredient levels, stock rotation, and replenishment to ensure availability for production.
  • Conduct taste tests, visual inspections, and texture evaluations to maintain quality and consistency of pastry products.
  • Maintain cleanliness of workstations, equipment, and utensils, following food safety and hygiene standards.
  • Collaborate on menu development, document recipes, interact with customers, and participate in training to enhance skills and career growth.

About You

The ideal candidate for this position will have the following experience and qualifications:

  • 3 - 5 years of experience in a pastry kitchen or bakery, with a focus on creating and preparing pastries and desserts.
  • Diploma, certificate, or degree in Pastry Arts, Culinary Arts, or Baking & Confectionery from a recognized institution.
  • Formal training or coursework in food safety, hygiene, and kitchen operation
  • Knowledge of pastry and dessert preparation, baking techniques, and plating/presentation.
  • Ability to measure ingredients accurately, follow recipes, and monitor baking times and temperatures.
