Job Description

The Junior Payroll Accountant is an essential role within the financial department, responsible for assisting with the execution and management of payroll processes. This position is designed for those who have a foundational understanding of accounting principles and a keen interest in building a career in payroll management. The role involves working closely with the payroll team to ensure accurate and timely payroll transactions. As a Junior Payroll Accountant, you will support the collection and organization of payroll data, process timesheets, and help in the preparation of related financial reports. You must possess a meticulous attention to detail, a strong ability to multitask, and an eagerness to learn and grow within the company.


Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation and processing of bi-weekly payroll for employees.
  • Ensure accurate entries of timesheet data for all departmental employees.
  • Collaborate with HR to verify employee status and compensation details regularly.
  • Support the resolution of payroll discrepancies and respond to payroll inquiries.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial and personal information diligently.
  • Assist in the preparation and distribution of standard payroll reports as needed.
  • Help verify and reconcile year-end payroll reports for accuracy and completeness.
  • Stay updated with current payroll regulations and standards to ensure compliance.
  • Provide input and support for audits and ensure proper documentation is in place.
  • Identify and suggest improvements to the payroll processes for efficiency gains.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation in the payroll management system.
  • Participate in payroll system implementation and upgrades upon management request.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • Basic understanding and experience with payroll and accounting procedures.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, for data analysis.
  • Strong analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information responsibly.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective interactions.
  • Prior experience with payroll software systems is highly desirable.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
