Job Description

The role of a Junior Estimator is crucial in the construction and engineering industries, where accurate cost estimation is essential for project success. As a Junior Estimator, you are responsible for supporting the senior estimation team in evaluating project specifications and drawings. You will assist in determining the total project cost and time required for completion. Success in this role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with a team. Responsibilities

  • Assist in evaluating project specifications and drawings for accurate cost estimation.

  • Prepare and submit detailed project cost estimates for review by seniors.
  • Maintain and update a database of material and labor costs.
  • Research and communicate with suppliers to obtain competitive pricing information.
  • Support in preparing presentations and reports on project estimates for stakeholders.
  • Help track project costs against budgets and pre-established benchmarks.
  • Provide administrative support to senior estimators in data entry and documentation.
  • Attend project meetings to gain insights into estimation processes and outcomes.
  • Assist in the formulation of contingency plans to address unforeseen project expenses.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and company procedures in all tasks.
  • Work with project managers to adjust cost estimates and timelines as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills to evaluate complex data sets.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective collaboration.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, for data analysis tasks.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and blueprints.
  • Previous experience in construction or cost estimation is an advantage.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks.
