Job Description

The IT Support Officer plays a critical role in managing and maintaining the technological framework of an organization. This position requires someone with a strong technical skillset who can resolve a range of IT issues and ensure smooth and efficient operations across various technology platforms. As the first point of contact for IT-related queries, the IT Support Officer must possess excellent communication skills and the ability to troubleshoot effectively under pressure. The role involves various responsibilities, from setting up hardware and installing software to conducting system diagnostics and providing user training and support. This role not only ensures that all IT systems are operational but also adapts systems for improved functionality to minimize disruptions in both corporate and individual user environments.


Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for hardware, software, and network issues.
  • Install, configure, and update operating systems, software, and hardware as required.
  • Respond promptly to user inquiries and ensure all support requests are resolved or escalated efficiently.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of technical support issues and resolutions.
  • Manage user accounts and access permissions to ensure security and data integrity.
  • Monitor system performance and identify any potential issues or vulnerabilities.
  • Coordinate with software and hardware vendors to resolve technical issues with systems.
  • Conduct user training sessions to facilitate understanding of new applications and tools.
  • Implement IT policies, procedures, and best practices to support organizational goals.
  • Maintain an inventory of IT assets, including hardware and software licenses.
  • Assist in the development and testing of backup and recovery plans to protect data.
  • Participate in projects to upgrade or implement new technology within the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Proven experience in IT support or a similar technical support role.
  • Strong understanding of computer systems, networks, hardware, and software.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a keen attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for interaction with users at all levels.
  • Familiarity with various operating systems such as Windows, macOS, and Linux.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
