The role of an IT Support Officer is crucial in ensuring the smooth operation and functionality of a company's IT infrastructure. As an IT Support Officer, you will be responsible for providing technical assistance and support related to computer systems, hardware, and software. The role involves responding to queries, running diagnostic programs, isolating problems, determining and implementing solutions. You will also be responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of the IT department, ensuring that user issues are resolved promptly, and providing top-notch service to all stakeholders. This position requires a high level of technical agility, as well as good interpersonal skills, to interact effectively with users who have varying degrees of IT knowledge. Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for both hardware and software issues.
  • Respond to IT support requests in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Install, configure, and maintain computer hardware, operating systems, and applications.
  • Monitor and maintain computer networks, including VPNs and network setups.
  • Set up new users' accounts, laptops, and necessary IT equipment.
  • Conduct regular system backups and data recovery operations when required.
  • Document internal procedures and help create technical support manuals.
  • Assist in the implementation of IT projects and system upgrades.
  • Educate and train employees on new software and IT tools.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve IT infrastructure and security.
  • Keep inventory of all the hardware and software licenses and ensure compliance.
  • Act as a liaison between employees and vendors for IT-related matters.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as an IT Support Officer or in a similar technical role.
  • Strong understanding of computer systems, mobile devices, and other tech products.
  • Proficiency in Windows, MacOS, and Linux operating systems is required.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical problems tactfully.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve basic technical issues effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with various remote support and IT management tools.
