Job Description

An IT Support Engineer plays a critical role in maintaining the technological backbone of an organization. This position is essential for ensuring that IT systems operate efficiently and effectively, minimizing downtime and addressing technical issues promptly. The IT Support Engineer is responsible for diagnosing hardware and software problems, finding solutions to complex technical issues, and implementing fixes to optimize user functionality. By providing both remote and on-site support, the IT Support Engineer is instrumental in offering timely assistance to internal employees and sometimes external clients. Skills in problem-solving, strong communication, and technical prowess in a variety of software and hardware are critical for success. As a vital member of the IT department, the IT Support Engineer helps to maintain security protocols, perform routine system updates, and optimize systems for better performance, thereby playing a significant role in sustaining organizational workflow.


Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues for quick resolutions.
  • Provide on-site and remote IT support to employees and clients as needed.
  • Install, configure, and maintain computer systems, including hardware and software components.
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and access rights within a variety of software systems.
  • Perform regular system updates, installations, and upgrades to maintain software effectiveness.
  • Train and guide users on IT policies, procedures, and best practices to enhance productivity.
  • Collaborate with other IT professionals to implement IT projects and initiatives effectively.
  • Monitor IT infrastructure and systems to ensure optimal performance and security compliance.
  • Document all support requests, resolutions, and work performed in IT support logs.
  • Assist in developing and implementing IT policies, security protocols, and disaster recovery plans.
  • Maintain inventory of IT equipment and manage equipment procurement and disposal processes.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies to improve system capabilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field.
  • Proven experience in an IT support role with a strong technical background.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting hardware, software, and network problems effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills for interaction with technical and non-technical users.
  • Familiarity with operating systems, particularly Windows, macOS, and Linux environments.
  • Knowledgeable about cybersecurity practices and data protection protocols is preferred.
  • Ability to manage time effectively while handling multiple tasks and requests simultaneously.
