Job Description

An IT Support Engineer is a crucial member of an organization's technology team, responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting computers, networks, and systems to ensure smooth operations. This role is pivotal in providing technical support and assistance to both internal staff and external clients, resolving any issues that may disrupt the daily business functions. The IT Support Engineer must have excellent problem-solving skills, be able to work under pressure, and maintain a high level of customer service at all times. The role often involves working with various hardware and software platforms, providing user training and support, and assisting in the development of IT policies and documentation.


Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for hardware and software applications.
  • Assist in the setup, configuration, and deployment of computer systems and networks.
  • Respond to customer inquiries and resolve issues in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Maintain and update IT systems, ensuring optimal performance and security.
  • Collaborate with other IT professionals and departments for problem resolution and information exchange.
  • Document and track issues, solutions, and configurations using ticketing systems and logs.
  • Conduct training sessions for employees on new hardware and software applications.
  • Ensure data security and integrity by implementing appropriate backup and recovery procedures.
  • Monitor system performance to recommend improvements and necessary updates.
  • Provide on-site and remote support as required, adapting to shifting priorities.
  • Participate in the planning and implementation of IT projects and strategies.
  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends and emerging technologies to enhance support services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in IT support or a similar technical role.
  • Proficiency with Windows, macOS, and Linux operating systems is essential.
  • Strong knowledge of network protocols, hardware setup, and configuration.
  • Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills for IT-related challenges.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective support delivery.
  • Ability to multitask and manage priorities under time constraints successfully.
  • Familiarity with IT service management (ITSM) and ticketing systems is advantageous.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies and cloud platforms is desirable.
  • Vendor certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft Certified preferred.
