An IT Security Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring the protection of an organization's information systems, networks, and data. This position requires an in-depth understanding of security protocols, threat management, and system vulnerabilities. As an IT Security Specialist, you will be responsible for implementing security measures that protect sensitive data from breaches, ensuring compliance with security policies, and responding to security incidents. Your ability to analyze potential security threats, develop solutions, and anticipate future security challenges will be key. You will work closely with other IT professionals to safeguard networks, systems, and data, making sure that all security protocols are updated and effective against evolving threats.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive security strategies to protect organizational assets.
• Monitor and analyze network traffic to identify irregular activity and potential threats.
• Conduct regular security audits, penetration testing, and vulnerability assessments.
• Respond promptly to security incidents, breaches, or system vulnerabilities.
• Develop and enforce security policies, procedures, and guidelines organization-wide.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of security threats, trends, and relevant technology.
• Collaborate with IT teams to integrate security measures into network and system designs.
• Provide security training and awareness programs for employees at all levels.
• Manage firewall configurations, intrusion detection systems, and antivirus software.
• Coordinate with external security vendors and service providers when necessary.
• Review and update security measures after technology upgrades or system changes.
• Document security incidents and report findings to senior management.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Proven experience in information security or related disciplines for at least three years.
• Strong understanding of security protocols, cryptography, and authentication processes.
• Experience with firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and antivirus solutions is essential.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or similar certification preferred.
