The IT Infrastructure Specialist is a critical component of a company's IT department, responsible for designing, implementing, and managing comprehensive IT infrastructure systems. This role ensures that IT networks, servers, and all associated hardware and software run optimally to meet business needs. The specialist is expected to maintain a secure and resilient IT architecture while actively engaging in troubleshooting and problem resolution to minimize downtime and maintain system reliability. A thorough understanding of both existing and emerging technologies is essential as the specialist will be tasked with upgrading and scaling the infrastructure to support organizational growth. Furthermore, strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the capability to communicate complex technical information effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders are crucial in this role. As a pivotal part of the IT team, the Infrastructure Specialist collaborates closely with other IT professionals to ensure seamless integration of new technologies and mitigate any potential disruptions.


Responsibilities

  • Design and implement IT infrastructure changes to support business objectives and growth.
  • Monitor and manage network performance ensuring optimal speed and reliability.
  • Configure and maintain servers, storage systems, and network equipment efficiently.
  • Implement and manage data backup and recovery procedures effectively.
  • Identify and resolve infrastructure-related issues minimizing system downtime.
  • Collaborate with internal IT teams to scale infrastructure for new projects.
  • Ensure system security by implementing proper access controls and firewalls.
  • Perform regular security audits to detect vulnerabilities and protect data integrity.
  • Document all infrastructure modifications and system configurations accurately.
  • Stay informed of emerging technologies to improve existing infrastructure systems.
  • Develop and implement policies that ensure system adherence to compliance regulations.
  • Train and provide guidance to less experienced IT staff members.


Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in IT infrastructure management roles.
  • Strong understanding of network and server hardware and software systems.
  • Proven experience with virtualization technologies like VMware or Hyper-V.
  • Experience with cloud services such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Solid knowledge of security protocols, firewalls, VPN, and intrusion detection systems.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and attention to detail are required.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication skills to convey technical concepts clearly.
  • Certifications such as CCNA, CISSP, or similar are highly advantageous.
