Job Description

The Inventory Controller is a pivotal role tasked with overseeing and managing the ordering, receiving, and overall inventory accuracy within an organization. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of supply chain management and inventory control processes. Being an Inventory Controller involves ensuring that products, materials, and supplies are accurately tracked, efficiently moved, and properly maintained within the warehouse or storage facility. The role necessitates detailed record-keeping and keen attention to detail to minimize discrepancies and optimize the inventory management system. This position not only helps prevent loss but also plays a crucial part in maintaining adequate stock levels to support operations and meet customer demand. Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement inventory control procedures to optimize stock levels.
  • Supervise the activities of the inventory team ensuring efficient operations.
  • Monitor stock levels and conduct regular audits to verify inventory accuracy.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of products and materials.
  • Manage the receiving, inspection, and storage of goods to maintain quality standards.
  • Review and analyze inventory reports to identify and address discrepancies.
  • Implement strategies for obsolete inventory reduction and prevention of overstock.
  • Work in conjunction with purchasing to forecast product demand and supply needs.
  • Enhance inventory tracking systems to streamline warehouse operations efficiently.
  • Maintain and update inventory records to ensure data accuracy and reliability.
  • Ensure compliance with warehouse safety and regulatory requirements at all times.
  • Provide training and development for inventory staff to improve performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, logistics, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as an Inventory Controller or similar role within a warehouse.
  • Proficiency in inventory management software and systems, e.g., SAP, Oracle.
  • Strong analytical skills to effectively interpret data and make data-driven decisions.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities, effective under pressure.
  • Strong leadership skills to manage and motivate a team effectively.
  • Attention to detail with strong problem-solving skills for handling discrepancies.
