This position is based in Dubai, UAE

The International Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the accounting function for all international sales offices (Dubai, Malaysia, Algeria, Mozambique, Australia, Jakarta) to ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and internal accounting policies and procedures.

Responsibilities Include

  • Prepare monthly financial package which includes financial statements, commentary and supporting schedules
  • Support month-end and year-end close process across multiple locations
  • Support customer invoicing and collections when required
  • Oversee AP function in all applicable locations
  • Preparation of payroll and required reporting
  • Manage banking function including deposits, disbursements and reconciliations
  • Oversee timely and accurate management of cash flows
  • Analyze financial information and present summarized financial results
  • Identify errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and spending
  • Liaise with external auditors to ensure timely and accurate completion of annual audit
  • Liaise with external service provides to ensure timely and accurate completion of commodity tax (VAT/GST) reports and corporate income tax filings
  • Prepare monthly reconciliations and year end working paper binder
  • Provide input into department’s goal setting process
  • Liaise with Corporate Accounting to improve financial procedures
  • Oversee preparation of the annual budget and forecasting process
  • Provide technical accounting support and interpretation
  • Develop and maintain compliance checklists for applicable international offices
  • Calculate and analyze variances from the budget and report significant issues to management
  • Prepare variety of ad hoc reports for management to assist in decision making
  • Develop and continually monitor best practice financial accounting, internal control procedures and processes to maximize impact and efficiency
  • Maintain fixed asset continuity schedule
  • Compliance and enforcement of delegation of authority across all locations
  • Ensure signing authorities are approved at corporate level with more than one signature to execute any bank transactions (including general AP)

Qualifications/Experience/Attributes

  • International experience managing processes and teams in different geographic locations.
  • Recognized professional accounting designation.
  • Minimum of 5 years of senior level accounting experience.
  • Proven experience in a Senior Accounting capacity
  • Experience with business operations and accounting requirements associated with varied international jurisdictions.
  • Solid understanding of international taxation issues and compliance requirements.
  • In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)/ International Financial Accounting Standards (IFRS).
  • Awareness of business trends.
  • Familiarity with generating and analyzing financial statements.
  • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process.
  • Hands-on experience with accounting software packages, like QuickBooks, Xero.
  • Advanced MS Excel skills including Vlookups and pivot tables.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Aptitude for numbers and strong quantitative skills.
  • Proven problem solving, analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Able to work independently and effectively manage diverse responsibilities.
  • Must enjoy working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Able to travel and adjust schedule to accommodate internal calls and work on occasion.
  • Superior written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Well organized and self-motivated.
  • Computer literate with strong working knowledge of Microsoft applications and ERP systems.
  • Ability to speak French, Portuguese and Arabic is an asset.
