Your team
This role sits within the APAC & ME Finance function as part of IG Limiteds Finance team on a 12-month assignment. You will report directly to the Finance Manager, or in their absence, to the Senior Executive Officer, with a dotted line to the Finance Officer. Based in Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), youll operate within a DFSA-regulated entity at the heart of one of the regions premier financial hubs. Youll join a diverse team making strategic contributions across the Middle East and Asia-Pacific markets.
Your role in the Team’s Success
Youll be responsible for the accuracy of our accounting and financial reporting while ensuring we meet all financial, tax, and regulatory obligations. This role offers valuable exposure to DFSA regulations operating within one of the leading financial regulatory framework. As part of our global finance team, youll collaborate with and supported by the shared service centres across regions and develop specialized knowledge within a sophisticated regulatory environment.
What You’ll Do
- Day-to-day responsibility for meeting regulatory and statutory filing obligations of the DFSA. Exposure to the DFSA and understanding of tax rules in the UAE is an advantage.
- Day-to-day financial management and responsibility for processes and controls over financial reporting
- Review daily reports i.e. debt reports, broker reconciliation reports, large exposure reports, daily cash reports, etc
- Lead the month-end processes, preparation of annual financial statements and supporting audit (internal, external, regulatory, ad-hoc) field work, as well as tax filings in the UAE
- Assistance with daily client money and asset segregation calculations and monthly reports
- Proactively review regulatory consultation papers, provide analysis to senior management, and monitor implementation timelines
- Build a strong relationship with risk and compliance to support external reporting requirements, and with other Financial Controllers across the group to drive consistency and continuous improvement across the function
- Drive continual process improvement and maintain effective oversight of operations performed by the Finance Operations and Financial Control team in Krakow & Bangalore
- Establish and maintain financial controls over financial reporting in compliance with IFRS. Review and challenge processes with the aim on continuous control and operational improvement
- Support the Company with tax matters impacting the entity. Assistance with various tax returns preparation
- Develop strong relationships with internal stakeholders, including the treasury, tax and finance operations team, and external stakeholders, including the external auditors
- Review of monthly reconciliation of balance sheet accounts, including accruals, prepaid, property, plant and equipment, and inter-company accounts
- Setting up and maintaining the documentation around new processes built under own responsibility
- Driving forward and supporting the closure of any internal and external ad hoc requests
- Supporting the Group for the topics owned (i.e. remediation of Audit findings)
- Providing administrative support and completing ad-hoc submissions as needed
Key Qualification Requirements
What you’ll need for this role
- At least 3 years accounting expertise and good IFRS skills.
- Very good understanding of Financial Statements and risks related to statements positions
- Good analytical skills – the ability to seek and resolve daily financial and operational issues while focusing on addressing open issues independently and taking ownership to resolve matters
- The ability to document and map systems and their requirements in detail
- You need to be a team player who likes to work in an international environment
- Excellent communication skills – the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical colleagues and stakeholders as well as regulators and auditors
- Fluent English in communication and writing
- Self-motivation and organization – the ability to manage your own time and task list effectively
