Job Description

As an Insurance Coordinator, you will be pivotal in facilitating the seamless processing of health insurance claims and benefits. Your role is crucial to ensuring that all insurance-related operations run smoothly within the healthcare network. You will coordinate with patients, insurers, and healthcare providers to ensure accurate billing, coverage clarifications, and compliance with policies. You'll need to provide clear communication and problem-solving abilities to manage claims efficiently, while also ensuring the private data is handled with utmost confidentiality. The insurance coordinator serves as a bridge between patients needing assistance and the complex world of health insurance, requiring both customer service proficiency and systematic knowledge.


Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the processing of insurance claims and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Maintain and update patient insurance information and personal data securely.
  • Communicate effectively with insurance companies to confirm coverage and benefits.
  • Assist patients in understanding their insurance plans and financial responsibilities.
  • Ensure all insurance claims are submitted in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Track and follow up on unpaid claims, re-submitting if necessary.
  • Review and verify insurance documents for accuracy and completeness.
  • Provide support in resolving billing queries and insurance-related issues promptly.
  • Monitor compliance of processes with established insurance regulations and standards.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed records of transactions and communications.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to improve patient service and billing processes.
  • Stay informed about changes in insurance policies and update protocols accordingly.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business, or a related field.
  • At least two years of experience in a healthcare or insurance environment.
  • Strong understanding of health insurance processes and industry standards.
  • Proficiency in using healthcare management software and databases.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and confidentiality.
  • Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written, essential.
  • Ability to multitask and address questions or concerns efficiently.
