Job Description

  • Interpret and understand Instrumentation, P&ID, hook-up, wiring, termination, loop, and control system drawings.
  • Supervise and coordinate instrument installation in accordance with approved drawings, hook-ups, specifications, and project requirements.
  • Verify proper installation, calibration, termination, tubing, cabling, and functionality of field instruments.
  • Support the commissioning of PLC, SCADA, and HMI systems, including understanding control logic, sequences, alarms, interlocks, and permissives.
  • Review and understand PLC logic and control narratives and coordinate with the controls team for troubleshooting and modifications.
  • Conduct and supervise internal testing, functional testing, and Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) for control and instrumentation systems.
  • Perform and coordinate loop checking, continuity checks, point-to-point checks, cold commissioning, and hot commissioning/testing.
  • Troubleshoot instrumentation and control system issues during testing and commissioning and coordinate corrective actions.
  • Work with Burner Management Systems (BMS), including understanding of associated logic, interlocks, permissives, trips, and safety functions.
  • Verify the functionality of control loops, alarms, trips, interlocks, sequences, and emergency shutdown functions.
  • Utilize and understand I&C testing equipment and tools, including calibrators, multimeters, loop testers, signal generators, and other instrumentation testing equipment.
  • Coordinate with electrical, mechanical, process, and commissioning teams to resolve interface and site issues.
  • Ensure testing and commissioning activities are carried out in accordance with approved procedures, project specifications, and applicable standards.
  • Prepare and maintain test records, loop folders, punch lists, commissioning documentation, and FAT/SAT documentation.
  • Support site commissioning activities and provide technical assistance during equipment start-up and troubleshooting.
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures, project requirements, HSE standards, and quality requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation, Electronics, Control Systems, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 5–6 years of relevant experience in Instrumentation & Control engineering, installation, testing, commissioning, or project execution.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret P&IDs, instrumentation drawings, hook-ups, wiring diagrams, loop diagrams, and termination drawings.
  • Hands-on experience with PLC, SCADA, and HMI systems, including understanding of logic, alarms, interlocks, permissives, and sequences.
  • Practical experience in loop testing, cold testing, hot testing, functional testing, and commissioning.
  • Working knowledge of Burner Management Systems (BMS) is required.
  • Good understanding of instrumentation installation, calibration, testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency in using I&C testing and calibration equipment and tools.
  • Experience participating in or conducting FAT/SAT and internal system testing.
  • Strong troubleshooting, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary engineering, construction, and commissioning teams.
  • Willingness to work at project sites and support commissioning and start-up activities as required.
