Job Description

As an Infection Controller, you will play a crucial role in maintaining a safe and healthy environment within healthcare facilities by preventing and controlling the spread of infectious diseases. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring infection prevention and control protocols, ensuring compliance with health regulations, and educating healthcare staff on infection control practices. Your expertise will be vital in analyzing infection data, identifying risk factors, and recommending necessary actions to mitigate outbreaks. This position demands a highly detail-oriented and compassionate individual who is adept at collaborating with various healthcare professionals, including doctors, nurses, and epidemiologists, to provide effective infection control measures and safeguard patient health.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement infection prevention and control policies and procedures.
  • Conduct regular surveillance and analysis of infection data within the facility.
  • Educate healthcare staff on best practices for infection prevention and control.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal healthcare regulations.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to manage infection outbreaks effectively.
  • Investigate and monitor sources of infections and potential outbreak scenarios.
  • Conduct risk assessments to identify high-risk areas within the facility.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of infection control strategies and protocols.
  • Provide expert advice on infection control measures during patient care procedures.
  • Participate in the development of educational materials and training programs.
  • Prepare and present reports on infection control activities and outcomes.
  • Lead infection control audits and inspections to ensure continual compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Public Health, or a related field required.
  • Certification in Infection Control (CIC) preferred or ability to obtain one.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in infection prevention and control.
  • Strong knowledge of infection control regulations, policies, and best practices.
  • Exceptional communication skills for training and advising healthcare staff.
  • Ability to analyze complex data and present it in understandable formats.
  • Strong organizational skills with keen attention to detail and accuracy.
