As an Infection Control Officer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the health and safety of patients, staff, and visitors by implementing and monitoring infection control protocols and practices within our healthcare facility. You will be responsible for developing and enforcing policies designed to prevent the spread of infectious agents, ensuring compliance with relevant health regulations, and providing education and training to clinical and non-clinical staff. Your keen analytical skills will be crucial in analyzing infection data to identify trends and implement corrective measures. The Infection Control Officer will also regularly liaise with state and national public health bodies to incorporate the latest scientific findings into the facility's infection prevention strategies. Ideal candidates will be proactive and dedicated professionals with a strong background in infection prevention, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Responsibilities
Develop and maintain comprehensive infection control policies and procedures for the facility.
Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance with infection control standards.
Coordinate with healthcare teams to implement effective infection prevention measures.
Monitor infection rates and provide detailed analysis and recommendations for improvement.
Organize and lead infection control committees to assess current strategies and outcomes.
Provide ongoing education and training sessions to all healthcare staff on infection prevention.
Ensure the availability and proper usage of necessary infection control supplies and equipment.
Act as a point of contact for external agencies regarding infection prevention practices.
Develop and conduct risk assessments related to infection control throughout the facility.
Investigate and manage outbreak situations in collaboration with relevant health authorities.
Stay updated with the latest research and health directives related to infection control.
Prepare and submit reports on infection control activities to senior management.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Public Health, or a related field is required.
Certification in Infection Control (CIC) or equivalent credentials highly preferred.
A minimum of three years of experience in infection control or hospital epidemiology.
Comprehensive knowledge of OSHA, CDC, and WHO guidelines for infection prevention.
Strong analytical skills with experience in data collection and infection rate monitoring.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively educate staff members.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
