Job Description

An Infection Control Manager is a vital role within healthcare systems, tasked with overseeing the development and implementation of infection prevention and control protocols. The purpose is to minimize the risk of infectious diseases within healthcare facilities. This position requires a deep understanding of infection control principles, healthcare policies, and the ability to analyze and respond to infection risks. The Infection Control Manager is responsible for coordinating with various departments to ensure compliance with health and safety standards and regulations. Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive infection prevention and control strategies across the facility.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and respond to infection control issues within the healthcare environment.
  • Conduct regular training programs to educate healthcare staff on infection prevention protocols.
  • Ensure compliance with national and local health regulations regarding infection control standards.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with healthcare departments to manage infection control risks effectively.
  • Analyze infection data to identify trends and implement proactive measures to mitigate risks.
  • Prepare and present detailed infection control reports to senior management and other stakeholders.
  • Oversee sterilization processes and ensure adherence to infection control hygiene practices.
  • Manage infection control audits and follow-up on action plans to address deficiencies.
  • Consult and advise on infection control policies during the design and operation of healthcare facilities.
  • Collaborate with occupational health services to manage staff exposure to communicable diseases effectively.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of infection control best practices and emerging infectious diseases.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Public Health, or a related healthcare field.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in a healthcare environment is required.
  • Certification in infection control (CIC) is strongly preferred for applicants.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing infection prevention strategies.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret infection data and report findings effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills are essential for training and collaborating with staff.
  • Ability to work under pressure and make swift decisions in high-stakes situations.
