An In-Room Dining Manager with Waldorf Astoria Hotels and Resorts is responsible for overseeing the full operations of the hotel’s in-room dining department, ensuring exceptional service delivery, timely order execution, and a consistently high level of guest satisfaction. This role requires strong leadership, impeccable attention to detail, and the ability to uphold the hotel’s luxury standards while managing a fast-paced, guest-focused environment.

The In-Room Dining Manager plays a vital role in managing and elevating the guest experience by ensuring smooth IRD operations, maintaining service excellence, and leading the IRD team. This position involves ensuring accuracy and timeliness of orders, upholding food and service quality standards, and coordinating with both culinary and service departments for seamless operations.

What Will I Be Doing

As an In Room Dining Manager, you are responsible for managing room service operations to deliver an excellent Guest and Member experience. An In Room Dining Manager would also be required to manage, train, and develop team members and optimize sales and control costs.   • Oversee the daily operations of the In-Room Dining department, ensuring efficient and timely delivery of all guest orders.
  • Maintain the highest service presentation standards, ensuring each tray or trolley reflects the hotel’s luxury expectations.
  • Ensure all orders are prepared and delivered accurately, adhering to brand standards and guest preferences.
  • Ensure full compliance with Hilton brand standards across all In-Room Dining service areas.
  • Collaborate with the culinary team to ensure food quality, freshness, and presentation align with established standards.
  • Manage, lead, and schedule the IRD team to ensure effective workflow and consistent service delivery.
  • Provide effective leadership to the In-Room Dining team to ensure departmental targets and individual development goals are met and exceeded.
  • Train and mentor team members on service etiquette, communication, order handling, and guest interaction.
  • Maintain consistent communication with the Training & Development department to implement structured training calendars for all levels.
  • Monitor and maintain inventory of IRD supplies, amenities, condiments, and equipment.
  • Oversee minibar operations (if applicable), ensuring accuracy, replenishment, and proper reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with all hygiene, health, and safety regulations related to food handling and service operations.
  • Address guest complaints, special requests, and service recovery needs professionally to maintain guest satisfaction.
  • Evaluate guest satisfaction levels regularly and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Stay aware of market and industry trends and propose ideas to elevate the range and quality of In-Room Dining food and beverage offerings.
  • Maintain clear communication with Front Office, Housekeeping, and Culinary teams to ensure seamless coordination.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of daily operations, order trends, minibar activity, and departmental performance.
  • Optimize sales opportunities and contain costs, identifying any areas requiring corrective action.
  • Monitor financial performance through cost management, waste reduction, and revenue accuracy.
  • Set achievable budgets and support the creation of short- and long-term functional goals for the department.
  • Conduct regular quality checks on trays, trolleys, equipment, and service ware to uphold luxury standards.
  • Review and act on guest feedback to enhance the In-Room Dining experience.
  • Ensure all team members follow food safety, sanitation, and operational SOPs.
  • Support development of IRD menus, seasonal offerings, and promotional concepts with the F&B leadership team.
  • Maintain a strong internal control environment and ensure compliance with all Hilton and hotel policies and procedures.

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a luxury hotel food & beverage operation, with specific experience in In-Room Dining or a similar guest-service-focused F&B outlet.
  • Proven track record in managing high-volume, high-expectation service environments within a luxury setting.
  • Strong understanding of luxury service standards, guest expectations, and the nuances of personalised in-room service experiences.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, with the ability to motivate, coach, and develop diverse F&B service teams.
  • Excellent knowledge of food and beverage operations, menu presentation, service protocols, and hygiene standards.
  • Strong commercial awareness with experience in cost control, budgeting, revenue optimisation, and departmental financial oversight.
  • Exceptional organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize and deliver under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with confidence in guest engagement and service recovery.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of quality and presentation.
  • Ability to stay informed on F&B trends, guest preferences, and innovative IRD service concepts.
  • Proficiency in using hotel systems related to F&B operations, such as POS platforms, minibar management systems, and order-tracking tools.
  • A proactive and solutions-oriented mindset, with the ability to anticipate guest needs and enhance the IRD experience.
  • Flexibility to work varying schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays, depending on operational needs.
