The Import and Export Manager plays a critical role in the logistics and supply chain sector, overseeing the efficient movement of goods across international borders. Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement international logistics strategies to improve efficiency of operations.
  • Oversee and manage the import and export activities to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Negotiate with carriers and freight forwarders to secure favorable shipping rates.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and buyers to ensure smooth logistical processes.
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop contingency plans for supply chain challenges.
  • Keep abreast of changes in trade laws, tariffs, and import/export documentation requirements.
  • Monitor the performance of logistics partners and optimize supply chain parameters.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on logistics activities and costs to senior management.
  • Oversee customs clearance processes to prevent delays in the import/export of goods.
  • Manage relationships with customs brokers, ensuring they provide timely and efficient services.
  • Utilize technology to improve shipping operations and data management processes.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop logistics staff to enhance team performance and productivity.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of five years experience in a logistics-related role, preferably in import/export.
  • Strong knowledge of international trade laws, customs regulations, and compliance procedures.
  • Proven negotiation skills with a successful track record in securing favorable terms.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively liaise with international stakeholders.
  • Experience with logistics management software and supply chain technologies.
  • Highly organized with attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and make strategic decisions under pressure.
