HVAC Technician

An HVAC Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems. This role is critical for ensuring that buildings are comfortable and safe for occupants by regulating and maintaining temperature, humidity, and air quality. An HVAC Technician works on both residential and commercial installations, diagnosing issues, performing routine adjustments, and handling emergency repairs to system components. They must adhere to local regulations and safety protocols, ensuring compliance with all relevant standards. This job demands a mix of technical expertise, troubleshooting skills, and customer service abilities, as technicians often interact with building owners or managers to explain complex technical information in layman’s terms.

Responsibilities

• Install heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems accurately and efficiently.
• Perform routine maintenance on HVAC systems to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot system malfunctions to determine the appropriate repairs needed.
• Utilize electrical and mechanical tests to verify system operational status and safety compliance.
• Ensure all HVAC installations and repairs comply with current codes and regulations.
• Maintain accurate service records, detailing work performed and parts used on every job.
• Collaborate with other technicians and contractors to complete complex installation projects.
• Provide technical advice and guidance to customers regarding energy efficiency best practices.
• Order and inventory parts and supplies to meet job requirements and reduce downtime.
• Respond promptly to emergency service calls, diagnosing issues with minimal disruption.
• Promote a safe working environment by adhering to OSHA and company safety regulations.
• Attend regular training sessions to stay updated on the latest HVAC technologies and methods.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent; HVAC certification preferred.
• Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in HVAC installation and repair.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC diagnostic tools, instruments, and equipment.
• Capability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
• Ability to work in various indoor and outdoor environments and weather conditions.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or in a team.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record to meet transportation demands.
