HVAC Technician (225-925)

The HVAC Technician is a crucial role within the facilities and maintenance department, responsible for the repair, maintenance, and installation of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems. This role demands a skilled professional with a sound understanding of HVAC systems and the capability to work independently as well as part of a team. Expertise in troubleshooting and providing high-level diagnostics for HVAC-related issues are essential for this position. The HVAC Technician also needs to deliver high-quality work that meets the health and safety standards. This position requires you to be proactive in performing preventative maintenance and ensuring systems' energy efficiency, thereby contributing to the overall operational effectiveness of the facilities.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.
• Conduct routine inspections of HVAC systems and maintenance on units.
• Diagnose faults, issues and provide troubleshooting for HVAC systems efficiently.
• Test pipe or tubing joints and connections for leaks using pressure gauges or soap-and-water solution.
• Adjust system controls to recommended settings and inform the clients on usage.
• Provide emergency repair services for customers as needed during business hours.
• Clean, adjust and repair HVAC systems, and perform warranty services.
• Ensure compliance with appliance standards and with Occupational Health and Safety requirements.
• Order and replace defective equipment, components, or wiring as needed.
• Plan and coordinate daily work tasks with team members or supervisors.
• Maintain accurate service records and document all projects and repairs undertaken.
• Stay informed on the latest developments in HVAC technology and best practices.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a technical trade school certification or apprenticeship.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as an HVAC technician or similar role.
• Valid driver's license and ability to operate a service vehicle safely.
• Proficient in reading complex blueprints, technical drawings, manuals, and schematics.
• Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
• Strong communication skills to explain technical issues to non-technical clients.
• Possess certifications such as EPA 608 and familiarity with state regulations.
