Human Resource Manager / Senior Manager (12-month contract)
Compensation: Starting from $100,000/year (based on full-time; prorated for part-time hours)
Overview
Smythe LLP is seeking an experienced and well-rounded HR professional to join the firm on a part-time, Monday-to-Friday, flexible 25-hour-per-week maternity leave contract. This role will act as a trusted partner to Partners and senior leaders, providing day-to-day HR support and guidance across a broad range of people matters.
The successful candidate will oversee core HR operations, including recruitment, employee relations, performance management, and leadership support within a professional services environment. This individual will play a key role in maintaining a strong employee experience, supporting leaders in managing their teams, and ensuring the smooth delivery of HR programs and processes across the firm.
The level of the role (Manager or Senior Manager) will be determined based on the experience and capabilities of the successful candidate.

The Opportunity
The HR Manager / Senior HR Manager is a part-time (3-4 days per week) maternity leave coverage role that plays an important leadership function in supporting Smythe’s people priorities. Reporting to the HR Partner, this position provides oversight of core HR operations and works closely with Partners and business leaders to support effective day-to-day people management across the firm.
In this role, the successful candidate will lead key HR functions, including employee relations, recruitment, performance management, and HR operations. The focus is on maintaining a strong employee experience, supporting leaders and teams, and ensuring consistent and effective HR practices across the organization.
