Job Description

Permanent
Full-time (average of 38 hours per week) - Part-time (minimum of 24 hours per week) considered

Let’s talk about you.

  • Are you wanting to be part of a team that is cohesive and genuinely committed to working together to achieve outcomes?
  • Are you motivated to deliver outstanding advice and support?
  • Are you looking for the opportunity to apply your HR skills in a local government environment?

Did you say ‘YES’ to all of the above?

One of Rockingham’s largest employers, the City is seeking HR professionals who will be part of the passionate, professional (and fun) team.

The team is responsible for:

  • delivering an ambitious People Plan which focuses on creating an environment which enables its employees to thrive and grow, both professionally and personally, in order to achieve high performance in their role
  • supporting and enhancing the end-to-end employee experience, from attracting our new employees into the organisation to waving them goodbye, knowing they’ll reflect positively on their employment and become great advocates for the next generation of City employees.
  • supporting the City’s diverse work areas to achieve their workforce goals through policy development and advice.
  • union engagement including industrial bargaining, and employee relations including performance, grievances and discipline.

These roles offer you the opportunity to be part of a change that includes improving systems and processes (including our Learning Management System), developing a City-wide leadership program, implementation of a Capability Framework, and development of a Reward and Recognition program.

We can offer you the opportunity to apply or develop your knowledge of the legislative and industrial instruments that underpin our employment relationships on a daily basis, and across a diverse workforce. We’ll even throw in the occasional curly question (we’ve had lots of them after becoming part of the State IR system).

You will draw on your knowledge and experience to provide accurate and timely advice to the organisation, ensuring we continue to meet compliance and legislative requirements.

Strong experience in HR (either generalist or a specific discipline) is essential for this role and experience in recruitment/talent acquisition will be highly regarded.

A tertiary-level qualification in an HR-related discipline, or currently studying towards a qualification is highly desirable but not essential, because we know that what you have gained in experience is equally valuable.

During the application process you will be prompted to specifically provide details on your:

  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, practices, procedures and standards
  • Experience in applying these across a large and diverse workforce
  • Experience in one or more aspects of HR e.g. recruitment and attraction, learning and development, IR/ER, etc.

We are offering a gross salary of $94,367-$99,929 per annum, dependent on skills and experience. But this job is so much more than the money.

Why work with us? Here is what we can offer you:

  • We recognise the value of work/life balance with rostered days off (a 19-day month) and two additional paid days of absence per year
  • We’re happy to discuss other flexible working arrangements that may suit your lifestyle
  • You’ll also receive 12% superannuation and be able to co-contribute up to 5% - that’s 22% in total!
  • Generous leave (13 weeks long service leave after 10 years of continuous service, annual, personal/carers, parental, family and domestic violence, compassionate leave, purchased leave)
  • An award-winning health and wellbeing programme, including annual subsidy (reimbursement up to $200 per annum) for physical activities (e.g. sports club or gym memberships), free flu vaccinations, free skin cancer checks, mental health programs and Employee Assistance Provider (EAP) services
  • Corporate volunteering opportunities
  • A culture of learning, with training and development opportunities including paid study leave and reimbursement of study fees
  • Salary packaging opportunities for motor vehicles, etc.
