Job Description

The HSE Specialist is crucial in ensuring workplace safety and environmental protection within an organization. As a key member of the health, safety, and environment (HSE) team, this professional is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing policies and procedures that comply with regulatory standards and safeguard employee well-being. The role involves conducting risk assessments, investigating incidents, and providing training to promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility. The HSE Specialist collaborates with various departments to integrate health and safety practices into everyday operations, thereby minimizing risks and enhancing organizational compliance with legal and industry standards. Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential hazards in the workplace.
  • Collaborate with management to ensure compliance with governmental and industry HSE regulations.
  • Investigate workplace incidents to determine root causes and prevent future occurrences.
  • Provide employee training on safety procedures, emergency protocols, and environmental awareness.
  • Promote a positive and proactive safety culture across the organization.
  • Oversee environmental impact assessments and implement mitigation strategies as needed.
  • Prepare detailed reports on the effectiveness of HSE policies and incident investigations.
  • Advise on potential improvements in health, safety, and environmental practices.
  • Ensure that safety equipment and protective gear are available and properly maintained.
  • Liaise with external agencies during inspections, audits, and emergency responses.
  • Keep abreast of industry best practices and emerging health and safety regulations.


Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health, Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in a similar safety and environmental role.
  • Thorough knowledge of HSE laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Certification in Occupational Health and Safety, such as NEBOSH or OSHA, is essential.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to train and engage employees effectively.
  • Proven ability to conduct risk assessments and incident investigations effectively.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills to improve workplace safety outcomes.
