Job Description

As a Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Specialist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the wellbeing and safety of employees in the workplace, as well as compliance with health and safety regulations. Your expertise will help prevent workplace accidents and environmental hazards by implementing robust safety programs and conducting thorough assessments. You will collaborate with management and staff to ensure that safety protocols and procedures are consistently adhered to and that all employees are adequately trained in safety practices. An effective HSE Specialist actively monitors for potential hazards and proposes improvements to policies, ensuring a safe and healthy working environment. This role requires a detail-oriented and proactive professional committed to fostering a culture of safety and awareness within the organization.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive health, safety, and environmental programs in compliance with regulations.
  • Conduct regular inspections and risk assessments to identify potential hazards in the workplace.
  • Ensure the organization adheres to local, state, and federal safety and environmental regulations.
  • Collaborate with departments to create safety training programs and conduct training sessions.
  • Investigate workplace incidents, near misses, and accidents to identify root causes.
  • Maintain detailed records of safety and environmental activities and accident occurrences.
  • Provide leadership in emergency response planning and coordinate emergency drills.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of implemented safety and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Prepare and present safety and environmental reports to management for review.
  • Advise on personal protective equipment (PPE) selection and maintenance for employees.
  • Develop and promote a culture of continuous improvement in safety and environmental processes.
  • Stay updated on the latest industry trends and legislation related to health and safety.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in occupational safety, environmental health, or a related field is required.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in health, safety, and environmental management.
  • Strong knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations and compliance standards.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills in risk management and accident prevention.
  • Effective communication skills for training, reporting, and collaboration purposes.
  • Certification in relevant HSE practices or occupational safety (e.g., OSHA, NEBOSH) is preferred.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic work environment.
