Job Description

The Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Specialist is a vital role responsible for ensuring that workplace environments comply with safety regulations and are conducive to employee health and well-being. In this role, you will monitor, manage, and enhance health and safety standards, practices, and programs within the organization. You will act as the primary point of contact for HSE concerns, offering expert advice, conducting risk assessments, and facilitating training sessions to promote a culture of safety among employees. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams to develop and implement effective safety initiatives and investigate incidents to prevent recurrence. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and passionate about fostering safe work environments while ensuring compliance with legal and organizational HSE standards.


Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and manage HSE policies, programs, and procedures to enhance workplace safety.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and audits to identify potential hazards in the workplace.
  • Provide expert guidance and support on environmental, health, and safety issues to all employees.
  • Organize and conduct comprehensive safety training sessions and workshops for employees.
  • Ensure compliance with all occupational safety regulations, standards, and health codes.
  • Investigate workplace incidents, accidents, and near-misses to determine root causes and prevent recurrence.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies to ensure organizational compliance with legal safety requirements.
  • Collaborate with departmental heads to integrate safety practices into daily operations.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed records, reports, and documentation related to safety activities.
  • Recommend and implement corrective actions to manage identified risks and non-compliances.
  • Manage emergency response plans and oversee their implementation during drills and actual events.
  • Keep abreast of industry trends, innovations, and regulations related to health and safety.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in HSE or a relevant safety role.
  • Strong knowledge of HSE laws, regulations, and best practices at a corporate level.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for effective training facilitation.
  • Proven ability to conduct thorough risk assessments and incident investigations.
  • Certification like OSHA, NEBOSH, or similar is highly preferred and advantageous.
