Job Description

The HSE Officer plays a critical role in ensuring the health, safety, and environmental standards within an organization are consistently maintained and improved. Working closely with management and staff, the HSE Officer identifies potential hazards and influences the organization to adopt practices that promote a safe working environment. This role requires a dynamic individual who can handle the demands of different environments while ensuring compliance with legislation, corporate policies, and guidelines. The HSE Officer will create and implement policies, perform risk assessments, and conduct training sessions aimed at fostering a culture of safety. This position is vital for mitigating risk and ensuring the well-being of all employees and stakeholders involved.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement HSE policies in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure adherence to HSE standards.
  • Identify potential hazards and develop strategies to mitigate associated risks.
  • Provide guidance and support to employees on health, safety, and environmental issues.
  • Prepare and present reports on HSE performance to management and stakeholders.
  • Coordinate and conduct HSE training sessions for staff across all departments.
  • Investigate incidents and accidents to determine causes and recommend preventive measures.
  • Manage emergency response planning and conduct related drills and exercises.
  • Ensure that all HSE documentation is maintained and kept up-to-date according to policy.
  • Collaborate with external agencies to stay updated on best practices and legislative changes.
  • Advise management on safety protocols and monitor their implementation effectively.
  • Promote a culture of safety through awareness programs and safety campaigns.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or related field.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in an HSE role within a similar industry.
  • In-depth understanding of HSE legislation and regulations at both national and local levels.
  • Proficient in conducting risk assessments and developing mitigation plans effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for training and reporting.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage time efficiently.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite and HSE management software tools.
