Job Description

The Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Officer is responsible for ensuring that all safety and environmental regulations and practices are adhered to, to create a safe workplace for all employees. This role is essential in identifying potential hazards and implementing measures to prevent accidents and improve workplace conditions. The HSE Officer will work closely with management, employees, and external bodies to foster a culture of safety and compliance in the organization. By conducting regular audits and risk assessments, the HSE Officer will contribute to minimizing operational risks and improving the organization's overall safety performance. This role requires a keen eye for detail, strong analytical skills, and a passion for maintaining high standards of health, safety, and environmental protections.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive health, safety, and environmental policies.
  • Conduct regular inspections and risk assessments to identify potential workplace hazards.
  • Ensure organization complies with all relevant HSE laws and regulations.
  • Promote a culture of awareness and compliance among employees through training programs.
  • Investigate workplace accidents and incidents to determine causes and prevent recurrences.
  • Prepare detailed reports on safety inspections, incidents, and regulatory audits.
  • Collaborate with management to integrate safety into operational processes and procedures.
  • Stay up to date with regulatory changes and implement necessary workplace adjustments.
  • Liaise with external authorities and organizations for regular HSE updates and audits.
  • Provide guidance on health, safety, and environmental best practices to all staff members.
  • Utilize data to recommend improvements in safety equipment and operational procedures.
  • Conduct emergency response training and drills in line with safety protocols.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in safety management, environmental science, or related field.
  • Minimum of three years' experience working in an HSE role in an industrial setting.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of HSE laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Strong analytical skills, with a focus on identifying and solving safety issues.
  • Excellent communication skills for training and presenting to diverse audiences.
  • Certification in occupational safety, such as NEBOSH or OSHA, is an advantage.
  • Proven ability to manage emergencies and implement effective response strategies.
