Job Description

As a Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Engineer, you play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and environmental compliance of our facilities and operations. Your primary responsibility will be to design, implement, and oversee rigorous safety programs and procedures. By identifying potential hazards, mitigating risks, and ensuring compliance with local and international safety standards, you will be instrumental in promoting a culture of safety within the company. The role demands an analytical mindset, excellent problem-solving abilities, and a strong commitment to upholding health and safety standards. Working closely with other departments, you will guide all safety training, risk assessments, and incident investigations, while continually improving our HSE systems and performance. Your expertise will not only protect our employees and the community but will also reinforce the company’s reputation for safety excellence.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive HSE policies, procedures, and programs across all sites.
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments and safety audits to identify potential hazards.
  • Coordinate and lead safety training programs for employees at all levels.
  • Investigate incidents and accidents promptly and recommend corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with local, national, and international safety regulations and standards.
  • Work collaboratively with management to integrate HSE into all business processes and operations.
  • Maintain accurate records of incidents, inspections, and investigations for reporting purposes.
  • Advise on the latest safety innovations and technologies to improve workplace safety.
  • Monitor and review the effectiveness of safety policies and procedures continually.
  • Liaise with external bodies, including regulatory authorities and emergency services when necessary.
  • Promote continuous improvement in occupational health, safety, and environmental management.
  • Lead regular HSE meetings and safety talks to engage staff and communicate key issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Safety Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5-10 years experience in a Health, Safety, and Environmental role (Roads and Bridges Projects).
  • In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements and safety management systems.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to conduct thorough risk assessments.
  • Strong communication skills, capable of training and educating diverse teams.
  • Proven track record of improving workplace safety and compliance effectively.
  • Professional certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent are highly desirable.
