Job Description

The HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) Engineer plays a critical role in ensuring workplace safety and compliance with environmental regulations. They are tasked with developing, implementing, and monitoring safety programs aligned with company and legal standards. The HSE Engineer is responsible for minimizing risks, promoting safety culture, and ensuring that the workplace complies with health and safety regulations. With a robust understanding of potential hazards, the HSE Engineer provides guidance and training to employees, conducts regular inspections, and investigates any safety incidents that occur. Their role is essential in maintaining a safe, healthy, and environmentally responsible work environment, which contributes significantly to the overall operational efficiency and reputation of the company.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive health, safety, and environment programs and policies.
  • Conduct regular inspections and risk assessments to identify potential hazards.
  • Prepare and review reports on safety performance and environmental compliance.
  • Ensure all safety equipment and systems are regularly maintained and functional.
  • Train employees on safety procedures and promote a strong safety culture.
  • Investigate safety incidents and prepare incident reports with corrective measures.
  • Coordinate emergency response drills and develop emergency preparedness plans.
  • Work with management to develop and enforce safety policies and initiatives.
  • Track and interpret safety data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations concerning safety protocols.
  • Collaborate with other departments to integrate safety into all business processes.
  • Stay up to date with new regulations, emerging safety trends, and technologies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in a safety management position.
  • Strong knowledge of local, state, and federal safety and environmental regulations.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to handle emergency situations.
  • Effective communication skills to train and interact with diverse teams.
  • Professional certifications such as CSP, NEBOSH, or IOSH are highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software systems.
