Job Description

An HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) Engineer is a critical component of any organization focused on maintaining a safe and healthy work environment. This role involves developing, implementing, and enforcing policies that ensure compliance with health and safety legislation as well as industry standards. The HSE Engineer is responsible for identifying potential hazards and conducting risk assessments to mitigate any risks associated with the workplace. This position requires a thorough understanding of health and safety protocols and the ability to influence and educate all levels of the organization, from executives to front-line employees. By promoting a strong safety culture and implementing proactive measures, the HSE Engineer aims to reduce the frequency and severity of workplace incidents, thus protecting employees and minimizing business disruptions.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and enforce health, safety, and environmental policies across the organization.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and develop strategies to control identified risks.
  • Analyze and report on the effectiveness of health and safety programs.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses to identify root causes.
  • Coordinate safety training programs and workshops for employees and management.
  • Collaborate with departments to integrate safety procedures into regular operations.
  • Stay updated with industry best practices and introduce new safety initiatives.
  • Facilitate health, safety, and environment committee meetings and activities.
  • Manage the reporting and documentation of safety incidents and action plans.
  • Oversee workplace inspections and audits to ensure safety compliance.
  • Advise management on the safety implications of new projects and processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health, Safety Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in health and safety roles.
  • Proven knowledge of relevant safety and environmental regulations and standards.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for team collaboration.
  • Certification in occupational health and safety (such as CSP or NEBOSH) preferred.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in fast-paced environments.
  • Proficient in using safety management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
