Job Description

A Health and Safety Officer plays a pivotal role in ensuring the well-being and safety of employees and the public within various work environments. Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and review health and safety policies and procedures regularly.
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments and audits to identify potential workplace hazards.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety laws and regulations.
  • Provide training and educational programs on safety practices to employees.
  • Investigate accidents or incidents and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation on health and safety measures and incidents.
  • Liaise with government agencies and ensure regulatory compliance in health and safety matters.
  • Advise management on safety protocols to mitigate identified risks and accidents.
  • Coordinate emergency response procedures and drills regularly in the workplace.
  • Inspect workplace equipment and processes to ensure they meet safety standards.
  • Collaborate with occupational health services to manage workplace health programs.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement in workplace safety and health practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Health and Safety Officer or similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local safety regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with personnel.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or similar certification preferred.
  • Analytical skills to assess risks and implement effective safety solutions.
  • Proficient in using technology and software for data recording and reporting.
