The Head of E-Commerce Development is responsible for overseeing e-commerce software development methodology and architecture, ensuring clean, smooth, and high-performance applications. He/she defines the short-term and long-term e-commerce technology strategy along with the associated roadmap. The role entails managing the overall e-commerce technology stack and optimizing its performance.
Key Responsibilities
Identify optimization opportunities across all divisions of e-commerce to improve the groups efficiency and deliver quality service to internal and external clients.
Create, implement, and oversee a set of technology metrics to measure the effectiveness of the department, suppliers, and performance of the e-commerce digital channels.
Suggest and implement appropriate e-commerce technology solutions throughout the group, ensuring they cater to projected business growth accordingly.
Set the e-commerce technology strategy aligned with relevant stakeholders, ensuring adherence to company goals, and oversee its implementation across all entities.
Update and maintain corporate standards, policies, and procedures for e-commerce, ensuring their consistent implementation across all entities.
Ensure the implementation of best practices in software development methodologies, including Agile, Scrum, etc.
Manage the annual budget and business plan for the e-commerce technology department, ensuring projects are implemented accordingly.
Oversee and plan necessary training sessions for the e-commerce division teams, facilitating the sharing of best practices, processes, and methodologies.
Lead the design and implementation of enterprise-scale e-commerce and retail architectures across multiple countries and channels, ensuring scalability, performance, and security.
Oversee architecture design from concept to deployment, ensuring seamless integration between commerce, ERP, CRM, logistics, and payment systems.
Plan and manage task implementations in coordination with relevant external consultants.
Champion the use of modern engineering and DevOps practices, ensuring efficient CI/CD pipelines, automation, and zero-downtime deployments.
Oversee and plan necessary training sessions for the e-commerce division teams, facilitating the sharing of best practices, processes, and methodologies.
Establish architecture governance standards, design patterns, and review processes that ensure consistency and quality across all technology platforms.
Drive innovation through the adoption of AI-enabled commerce solutions such as personalization, recommendation engines, and intelligent pricing tools.
Collaborate with business and technology leaders to align e-commerce solutions with enterprise goals, promoting a unified and data-driven customer experience.
Recruit, train, motivate, and evaluate the team to ensure that the department has the necessary skill base, and that staff are optimally motivated and enabled to maximize their potential and contribution to the company.
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Computer Science, or a related field, MBA is a plus
15 years of experience in a similar role out of which a minimum of 6 years in a managerial role.
Experience in E-Commerce Retail on both the client & system integration (SI) sides is a plus.
Fluency in English
Proficiency in MS Office
