Role Overview

 

The Head of Broker Network is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the organization's broker relationships, ensuring seamless execution of trades, and driving strategic initiatives to achieve market coverage and cost efficiency goals set by senior management. This role requires a combination of strategic oversight, analytical rigor, and hands-on execution to ensure the firm leverages the best broker and custodian networks across domestic and international markets.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Maintain and grow executing broker relationships, implementing and achieving market coverage goals set by Management
  • Shortlist and onboard brokers in new and existing markets in line with Management requirements
  • Analyze broker performance to select and channel orders to the best fit, optimizing cost and execution quality for the firm
  • Negotiate broker and custodian agreements and fee schedules
  • Maintain a master cost sheet for all brokers and custodians
  • Liaise with brokers and custodians to resolve issues escalated by other teams
  • Implement system changes to ensure accurate cost capture for existing and new markets/products
  • Provide cost-benefit analysis and reporting to Management as required

 

Requirements

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field
  • Minimum 8–10 years of experience in capital markets, broker relations, trade execution, or institutional sales/dealing, including at least 3–5 years in a leadership or managerial capacity
  • Proven experience working with executing brokers and custodians across multiple markets (domestic and international)
  • Prior exposure to institutional or cross-border equity/fixed income trading environments
  • Strong understanding of broker execution models, commission structures, and cost frameworks across asset classes and markets
  • Familiarity with trade settlement processes, custodian operations, and regulatory requirements across relevant jurisdictions
  • Proficiency in Excel and data analysis tools
  • Strong stakeholder management, negotiation, and communication skills, with the ability to liaise confidently with brokers, custodians, senior management, and internal teams
  • High attention to detail, particularly around cost tracking and reconciliation
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage escalations effectively

 

Added Advantages

 

  • Professional qualifications such as CFA, ACI, or equivalent capital markets certification
  • Existing relationships with brokers/custodians in key regional or international markets
  • Experience working in a multi-market institutional brokerage, asset management firm, or investment bank
  • Exposure to system implementation or enhancement projects related to trade cost capture
  • Experience with order/execution management systems (OMS/EMS)
  • Knowledge of emerging/frontier markets brokerage landscape
  • Working knowledge of additional regional languages relevant to GTN's markets of operation
