About The Job

Based at the Mandarin Oriental Downtown, Dubai, within the Breakfast Restaurant in Dubai, the Head Hostess will support the Restaurant Manager, oversee the host team, manage reservations and ensure that every guest receives an exceptional welcome. The role is mainly responsible for providing a seamless experience to our guests upon arrival. It also includes responsibility for table management strategy, operational, administrative and guest-related tasks. The Head Hostess will report to the Assistant Manager.

As a Head Hostess, you will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Support the Restaurant Manager in all operational and administrative aspects, act as the main point of contact for F&B restaurant reservations, and prioritise high levels of guest engagement.
  • Enforce and monitor operational standards for guest arrival and satisfaction, assign side duties to hostesses, and manage hostess shifts effectively.
  • Maintain good relationships and communication with the front office, concierge, and reservations teams, ensuring reservations are well-managed and seating capacities are maximised.
  • Ensure accuracy and presentation of all menus, assist in planning special promotional activities, and take control over group bookings.
  • Provide leadership, direction, and support to colleagues, particularly the hostess team, offering feedback, coaching, and necessary training.
  • Communicate effectively with other departments and key people across the city, maintain guest profiles, ensure smooth guest arrival, and handle customer complaints effectively.

As a Head Hostess, We Expect From You

  • Hold a High School qualification or equivalent, with a Degree or Higher National Diploma in Hospitality/Hotel/Business Management preferred.
  • Have market understanding, particularly in restaurants focused on Dubai residents, with social media knowledge and the impact of influencers.
  • Possess previous experience in guest relations roles, with expertise from upscale standalone restaurants or luxury hotels required.
  • Demonstrate understanding of guest needs and deliver superior customer service, with proven ability to support, motivate, and lead a large, diverse team.
  • Exhibit excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Arabic (or other languages), with strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively with guests and colleagues.
  • Show exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to multitask and prioritise in a fast-paced environment, and have physical capabilities to stand for long periods with flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
