Job Overview:

The Internal Shariah Control Officer supports the Head of Internal Shari’ah Control in delivering Shari’ah control functions across Emirates NBD Group entities and relevant subsidiaries with Islamic offerings, excluding Emirates Islamic Bank. The role ensures activities, products, documentation, communications, and stakeholder queries are reviewed in line with the Sharia Governance Framework, ISSC resolutions, Higher Shari’ah Authority guidelines, and applicable AAOIFI Shari’ah Standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the review of agreements, contracts, product documentation, services, marketing communications, customer queries, complaints, and Shari’ah screening activities.
• Assist in monitoring and reviewing business activities to assess compliance with Islamic Shari’ah, ISSC resolutions, Higher Shari’ah Authority guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
• Prepare formal Shari’ah compliance updates, quarterly reports, manuals, SOPs, and regulatory communication under the guidance of the relevant Shari’ah leadership.
• Support the development and delivery of basic and customized Shari’ah training materials for Emirates NBD staff.
• Assist with ISSC secretariat activities, including meeting agendas, archiving fatwas and resolutions, logistics, and following up on implementation of Shari’ah resolutions.
  
  

Skills And Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Shari’ah or Law is essential; a master’s degree related to Islamic Banking is desirable.
• Certified Sharia Advisor and Auditor qualification by AAOIFI is desirable.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in a Shari’ah department or Shari’ah consultancy firm is desirable.
• Good knowledge of Islamic banking operations and Islamic Shari’ah principles is essential.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, negotiation, and conflict management skills.
