Job Description

A General Practitioner (GP) is a medical professional responsible for providing comprehensive healthcare to individuals and families. They are the first point of contact for patients and play a crucial role in the diagnosis and management of various health conditions. GPs perform routine check-ups, assess and treat ailments, and refer patients to specialists when required. Their holistic approach to medicine ensures that they not only focus on physical well-being but also consider emotional and mental health, offering counseling and support where necessary. Responsibilities

  • Conducting thorough medical examinations and evaluations to diagnose patient conditions.
  • Prescribing appropriate medications and treatments based on diagnosis and test results.

  • Maintaining concise and accurate medical records for every patient consultation.
  • Coordinating with specialists and healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive care.
  • Educating patients on preventive healthcare measures, such as lifestyle changes and vaccinations.
  • Responding to medical emergencies swiftly and efficiently in a calm demeanor.
  • Conducting small in-office procedures, like suturing or wound care, as needed.
  • Participating in community health promotion activities and public health initiatives.
  • Engaging in continuous professional development to stay current with medical innovations.
  • Managing administrative duties, including patient appointments and insurance documentation.
  • Offering counseling and support for patients experiencing emotional or mental health issues.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree required.
  • Valid medical license to practice .
  • Completion of a residency program in family medicine or general practice.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with patients.
  • Demonstrated ability to diagnose and treat a wide range of medical conditions.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and data entry.
  • Commitment to ongoing medical education and professional development activities.
