Main Accountabilities:

Provide strategic direction and professional leadership to the company to achieve organisational, business, shareholder and contractual objectives in the short, medium and long terms through continuous improvement and best practice.

Detailed Job Description:

Management

• Provide strategic direction and sound leadership to functional managers to set and achieve short, medium and long term objectives/performance targets/plans.
• Develop, implement and execute company strategy in accordance with shareholder objectives.
• Formulate company policies to achieve business and contractual objectives.
• Guide, coordinate and ensure timely execution of departmental strategies.
• Direct and ensure efficient and effective resource and contract management.
• Report to and liaise with the Management Committee, shareholders, stakeholders.
• Support functional managers to proactively develop and maintain strategic business partnerships to optimize asset life and condition based on good asset management principles.
• Develop and direct the company budget activities to achieve targets and objectives.
• Oversee financial, HR and O&M management activities to ensure optimum balance between contractual obligations and shareholders expectations.
• Ensure the implementation and compliance of all company policies, procedures, legal obligations and contractual obligations.
• Represent the company and its shareholders by fostering effective professional relations at the highest levels.
• Ensure a fair working environment and fostering of employee growth at all levels.
• Act as signatory in accordance with the approved VeBes signatory matrix.

Environment, Health and Safety

• Ensure, encourage and monitor safe work practices on site on a zero tolerance approach.

• Facilitate and encourage information sharing for the benefit of the VeBes O&M Company.
• Assist/support/coach/guide the VeBes O&M team members to improve performance.

Organizing and Reporting

• Assess and guide the development/improvement/timely delivery of reports and tools to improve overall company efficiency and client/stakeholder satisfaction.
• Attend meetings, interviews, safety walks, regional events, etc. when required.
• Arrange and coordinate Management Committee meetings and take Minutes.

Communication

• Ensure effective and prompt communication internally and externally.
• Liaise and communicate with shareholders and stakeholders as and when appropriate.

Education and Experience Required:

Education Level

• Recognized Degree in Engineering/Environmental Science or equivalent.
• Recognized management development qualification.

Experience

• 15 years continuous experience in water related or industrial environment with minimum of 8 years senior management experience.

Technical Skills Required:

• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
• Good knowledge of relevant wastewater treatment plant processes and related activities.
• Excellent knowledge of asset management and related principles.
• Innovative and continuous improvement mindset.
• Excellent project management skills.
