General Maintenance Technician 17D25

A General Maintenance Technician is an essential role in ensuring that facility operations run smoothly and efficiently. This position involves performing routine maintenance tasks, troubleshooting problems, and helping to ensure that all equipment and systems within the facility are functioning optimally. The General Maintenance Technician should have a comprehensive understanding of various maintenance procedures, be adept at using a wide range of hand and power tools, and be able to read blueprints and schematics. A successful candidate will be a self-starter with the ability to work independently as well as part of a team to address maintenance issues promptly and effectively, ensuring the comfort and safety of all facility users.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections and maintenance of mechanical and electrical systems.
• Identify and repair plumbing issues such as leaks, clogs, and drainage problems.
• Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them efficiently.
• Maintain accurate records of work orders and completed tasks for reference.
• Install and repair air conditioning and heating units to ensure optimal performance.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests involving building structures and equipment.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations while conducting repairs.
• Keep facilities in top condition by performing scheduled preventive maintenance.
• Assist in the setup and tear-down of equipment for special events and occasions.
• Utilize a range of hand tools and diagnostic equipment for maintenance tasks.
• Collaborate with other technicians to solve complex technical problems effectively.
• Maintain clean and organized work areas including storage of maintenance tools.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training is a plus.
• Proven experience as a maintenance technician or similar role required.
• Solid understanding of technical aspects of plumbing, carpentry, and electrical systems.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
• Physical stamina and dexterity necessary to perform manual labor efficiently.
• Excellent communication skills and a customer-oriented approach is essential.
• Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and emergencies when needed.
