Who we are
ODC (Overseas Distribution Company) is a Belgian duty-free and travel retail distributor with a strong presence across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. From our Dubai office we serve some of the fastest-moving travel retail markets in the world — and as we scale our operations, we're investing in the software and IT processes that run them.
Your role
Business Central is the core of our systems landscape; a .NET integration platform, our Azure APIs, and customer-facing frontends led by Bluebird (our B2B webshop) all connect back to it. We're looking for a full-stack .NET engineer who's comfortable moving across backend, frontend, and the integrations that tie our systems together — and who also acts as the connective tissue of the IT team: keeping projects on track, processes running smoothly, and colleagues unblocked, without a formal management title.
This is also our third-line ("deeper") support function. We're the final escalation tier, so calm, methodical diagnosis of production issues matters here as much as shipping features. You'll work closely with the Commercial Director and internal stakeholders to translate business needs into working software, while ensuring the day-to-day reliability, security, and quality of ODC's IT environment.
Stack: .NET · Blazor / React · SQL Server · Azure
Core systems: Business Central (grow into AL) · integration platform · Bluebird B2B webshop
Team: Small IT team · ticket-driven on the Atlassian suite (Jira, Jira Service Management, Confluence)
Base: Dubai office
What you'll do
Software development
- Design and build full-stack solutions across our .NET integration platform, Azure APIs, and frontends (Blazor and React) — from problem analysis and architecture to coding, testing, deployment, and documentation
- Design relational data models and write performant queries with SQL Server and EF Core
- Connect systems: consume and expose APIs, work with message queues / service bus, and reason about async, event-driven flows — most of our complexity lives at these boundaries
- Grow into Business Central / AL over time, supported by the team
- Evaluate automation opportunities and translate them into practical, maintainable tools
- Manage software project timelines and coordinate releases in close collaboration with the Commercial Director
IT process & operational continuity
- Act as third-line support: read logs across systems, reproduce hard bugs, and find the real root cause of issues others couldn't crack
- Coordinate day-to-day IT activities to ensure smooth operations and timely resolution of technical issues
- Monitor system performance and take proactive steps to prevent disruptions
- Serve as a go-to point of contact for internal stakeholders on IT matters, communicating clearly about project updates, system changes, and service interruptions
- Collaborate across departments to align IT initiatives with business goals
Security & quality
- Establish and maintain a secure environment for ODC systems and networks
- Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans
- Conduct regular security audits and risk assessments; enforce IT security policies and procedures
- Implement quality standards and perform periodic compliance reviews
Knowledge sharing & documentation
- Document as you go in Confluence: technical specs, design documents, and user guides
- Share knowledge proactively across the IT team and support colleagues in developing their technical skills
- Provide user training and support for new software releases and features
Innovation
- Stay on top of emerging technologies and proactively propose improvements
- Continuously develop your own skills through courses, self-study, and hands-on experimentation
What we're looking for
Must-have (non-negotiable on day one)
- Strong C# and .NET / ASP.NET Core
- Frontend experience with Blazor and/or React — real apps, not the occasional component; willingness to work across both beats mastery of one
- SQL Server and Entity Framework Core: relational modelling, code-first migrations, an eye for query performance
- An integration mindset: REST APIs and async / event-driven patterns
- Strong debugging and root-cause diagnostics — the core of the third-line support role
- Genuine eagerness to learn Business Central and AL (existing AL not required, appetite to grow into it is)
- Fluent in English
Expected (a short ramp-up is fine)
- Azure fundamentals: App Services, Functions, Service Bus, Storage, Azure AD / JWT authentication
- Git and CI/CD with Azure DevOps
- Comfort working ticket-driven and documenting as you go (Jira, Jira Service Management, Confluence — prior experience preferred)
- Automated testing in C# (xUnit or similar); you write testable code by default
- Clean architecture / SOLID instincts, with structured logging and observability (Serilog, Application Insights)
- Experience working in a small, agile IT team where you wear multiple hats
Nice to have (differentiators)
- Existing Business Central / NAV experience (AL or BC API integration)
- E-commerce / webshop experience — directly relevant to Bluebird
- Frontend depth: TypeScript, component architecture, state management, responsive and accessible UI
- Domain exposure: logistics, supply chain, customs / excise compliance (EDI, Intrastat), B2B / ERP
How you work
- Adaptable across breadth — comfortable context-switching between AL, cloud .NET, and web frontends
- You think in systems and reason across the boundaries where most complexity and bugs live
- Calm under production pressure — structured triage during escalations and live incidents
- Ownership and self-direction on a small team with real responsibility
- A learning posture — coachable, curious, proactive in flagging problems and proposing solutions
- Clear communication with non-technical stakeholders across logistics, finance, and operations
- Pragmatic delivery — you ship working software and balance quality with getting things into production
What we offer
- A full-time position, Monday to Friday, based at our Dubai office (Jafza One, Tower B, Office 2410, Jebel Ali Free Zone)
- Real ownership: end-to-end responsibility for production systems, including a live B2B webshop, with direct collaboration with senior leadership
- A varied, high-impact role in a financially stable, fast-growing international business spanning Europe, the Middle East, and Africa
- A dynamic environment within the travel retail sector, at the heart of one of the world's fastest-moving markets
- A competitive compensation package
- A team culture built on ambition, talent, and excellence — where ownership is expected and growth is supported
