The Role
We are looking for a Fraud Analyst to support card-fraud monitoring and day-to-day improvements. Your focus will be reviewing alerts, highlighting trends, and recommending rule adjustments. You will collaborate with Product, Engineering, Disputes, AML, and external partners if needed to keep controls usable and compliant. Success looks like higher authorization success, lower loss rate, fewer false positives, and clear documentation that stands up to review and inspections.
You will contribute to targets set by the team, share concise MI, and follow established processes for 3DS, tokenization, limits, and rule checks. You will take part in change reviews and help ensure any rule/config updates are tested and documented.
Rules & models: Recommend tuning based on MCC/MID lists, fallback and EMV flags, tokenization, and velocity/limit settings.
Investigations: Work alerts end-to-end—link related authorizations, document verification steps, record rationale and outcomes in the case system.
Schemes & partners: Track Visa/Mastercard fraud programs, thresholds, and notifications; support required submissions with processors/sponsor banks.
Chargebacks liaison: Advise cardholders to raise dispute tickets for the chargeback process and coordinate with the Disputes team as needed.
Fraud tracker: Maintain the fraud tracker for suspected/confirmed cases, including key transaction details.
Product flow controls: Review changes to card features (provisioning, limits, tokenization, 3DS flows, velocity caps) and propose practical acceptance criteria.
Process hygiene: Keep SOPs/playbooks/runbooks current; maintain auditable artifacts and approvals for rule/config changes.
Knowledge sharing: Coach analysts on card-fraud typologies (CNP, AFD, fallback, skimming, social engineering) and share lessons learned after incidents.
On-call: Participate in an agreed on-call/after-hours rotation during spikes
What You Bring
4–6 years in card-fraud monitoring/investigation on the issuer side in fintech or banking, with hands-on exposure to live incidents.
Strong grasp of typologies: enumeration, BIN testing, social engineering, friendly fraud, merchant risk.
Hands-on with rule engines, velocity (per PAN/device/IP/MID), MCC/MID controls, device/geo checks, and step-up triggers.
Working knowledge of Visa/Mastercard alerts/programs and coordination with processors and sponsor banks.
Awareness of 3DS, tokenization, limits/velocity and the impact on approvals and customer experience.
Clear, disciplined documentation (evidence, rationale, decisions) and concise incident updates.
Nice to have: SQL for analysis, case-management tools (e.g., Jira), chargeback exposure, and collaboration with AML on STR referrals.
Bonus Points
Hybrid working model: In-office collaboration for design reviews, workshops, and team days, with flexible remote time for deep work. Clear expectations on core hours and availability.
Ownership and growth: Small teams and direct access to decision makers. End-to-end responsibility for your area, support for certifications and learning, and progression based on outcomes.
Cross-border exposure: Work with partners across MENA and beyond. Gain hands-on experience with schemes, banks, and regulators, and broaden your domain expertise.
Real product and business impact: Build for a live issuing platform used by fintechs. See measurable results on performance and revenue within weeks, and celebrate wins backed by data.
