Forklift Operator (225-702)

The Forklift Operator is a skilled worker responsible for operating forklifts to load, unload, move, and stack materials in warehouses, storage yards, factories, and construction sites. They must be proficient in the handling of forklifts and understand how to follow safety protocols to ensure their safety and that of others. A Forklift Operator works closely with other warehouse and logistics personnel to maintain a smooth and efficient flow of goods. This role requires attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while performing physical tasks that may require lifting. A successful candidate will have a keen eye for detail, be flexible, and able to work overtime when necessary.

Responsibilities

• Operate powered industrial trucks to load and unload materials safely.
• Move goods packed on pallets or in crates around storage facilities.
• Stack goods in designated areas by following inventory control instructions.
• Verify loads for accuracy to ensure correct inventory management.
• Inspect machinery to determine the need for repairs and guarantee safety.
• Adhere strictly to all health and safety regulations while operating forklifts.
• Work in collaboration with other warehouse workers to meet daily targets.
• Report any discrepancies or quality issues to the supervisor promptly.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment at all times.
• Document and log work performance, maintenances, and other activities.
• Assist in the packaging and labeling of goods when necessary.
• Undertake other related tasks as directed by warehouse management.

Requirements

• Prior experience as a forklift operator in a logistics setting is required.
• Valid forklift certification or license to operate heavy machinery.
• Strong understanding of OSHA safety guidelines and preventive maintenance.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in teams.
• Ability to lift heavy objects and perform repetitive movements as needed.
• Basic math and recording skills for inventory management and logging.
• Availability to work flexible hours, including overtime and weekends if needed.
