Job Description

The Fleet Manager plays a pivotal role in the efficient management and oversight of an organization's vehicle fleet. This position demands an individual who is highly organized, detail-oriented, and equipped with a comprehensive understanding of fleet management principles. The Fleet Manager is responsible for overseeing vehicle maintenance, negotiation with vendors, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and maximizing the operational efficiency of the fleet. Additionally, this role requires the ability to manage budgets, track vehicle usage and performance, and implement cost-saving strategies. The Fleet Manager also leads a team of drivers and serves as the primary point of contact for logistical operations, ensuring that all fleet activities align with the company's goals and regulatory requirements.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategic plans for vehicle fleet optimization and cost-efficiency.
  • Oversee regular maintenance schedules to ensure vehicles are in excellent working conditions.
  • Negotiate contracts and agreements with vendors and service providers for fleet services.
  • Monitor fleet operations and performance metrics to ensure target goals are met.
  • Ensure all fleet activities comply with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Manage and supervise a team of drivers and support staff effectively.
  • Track and report on vehicle inventory, usage, and ensure accurate record-keeping.
  • Implement and monitor fleet safety programs to minimize risks and liabilities.
  • Develop budgets and oversee expenditures for fleet-related activities and projects.
  • Coordinate with other departments to align fleet logistics with company logistics strategies.
  • Evaluate and implement new technologies to enhance fleet operations and management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Logistics, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in fleet management or similar role.
  • Proven track record of managing large fleets and team leadership skills.
  • Strong understanding of vehicle maintenance and transportation regulations.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills with vendors and team members.
  • Proficiency in fleet management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to analyze data and develop effective strategies for cost savings and efficiency.
