Financial Accountant

We are seeking a detail oriented and proactive Financial Accountant to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will assist in performing bookkeeping, daily reconciliations, and various financial operations to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial records and transactions. This role is critical for maintaining compliance with local financial regulations and ensuring smooth daily operations within our fast-paced and dynamic environment. Key Responsibilities:

Accounts Payable & Vendor Management:

  • Oversee the end-to-end accounts payable process including invoice processing, approvals, and payments
  • Drive automation and efficiency in AP processes, including integration with ERP/Payment systems.
  • Build strong relationships with vendors and resolve queries in a timely manner. Address and resolve any vendor payment related issues.
  • Ensure adherence to payment timelines and optimize working capital.
  • Perform creditor analysis and ageing on a periodic basis.

Partner Settlements & Payment Flows

  • Manage settlement cycles with partners (e.g., banks, payment processors, remittance partners, distributors)
  • Oversee reconciliation of wallet balances, nodal/safeguarding accounts, and partner statements
  • Ensure timely settlement of funds with partners in line with contractual and regulatory requirements
  • Investigate and resolve settlement breaks, delays, and discrepancies
  • Work closely with product and operations teams to improve settlement logic and reduce manual intervention


Reconciliations, GL Control & Safeguarding

  • Own daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliations across:
    • Wallet balances vs. ledger
    • Bank / nodal / safeguarding accounts
    • Payment gateway / processor reports
  • Ensure complete and accurate recording of all financial transactions in the GL
  • Maintain strong substantiation of all balance sheet accounts with audit-ready documentation
  • Strengthen controls around safeguarding of customer funds and regulatory compliance
  • Identify risks and implement corrective controls in financial operations

Month-end Close:

  • Lead finance operations close activities, ensuring accurate and timely book closure
  • Review and post journals including accruals, provisions, and settlement adjustments
  • Partner with FP&A and controllership teams to ensure completeness of revenue, cost, and balances
  • Continuously improve close timelines and reduce manual dependencies.

Process Improvement, Automation & Controls

  • Identify opportunities to automate reconciliations and settlement workflows
  • Work with product/engineering teams on system enhancements and integrations
  • Drive implementation of scalable processes to support business growth
  • Ensure adherence to internal controls, audit requirements, and regulatory guidelines
  • Support internal and external audits, including regulator-facing requirements

General Financial Operations:

  • Collaborate with other departments, including operations, to resolve financial issues and discrepancies.
  • Assist in maintaining financial systems and platforms, ensuring accurate data entry and system functionality.

  • Adaptability: Willingness to learn and adapt to new financial systems, tools, and regulations as the fintech landscape evolves.

What You’ll Need

  • Bachelors degree in Finance or Accounting.
  • 5-6 years of experience in accounting and financial operations. Experience in fintech or regulated industry is preferred. Preferably with technical accounting experience.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to analyze and interpret financial data accurately.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain financial concepts clearly to non-finance stakeholders.
  • Ability to identify issues in financial data and propose practical solutions.
  • Exhibits business judgment, strong analytical, coordination, and decision-making skills
  • Strong working knowledge of accounting principles, procedures and internal controls.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (Dynamics 365 Business Central), Microsoft Excel and reporting tools like Power BI and Tableau.
